Growing guide

Sowing

Plant seed outdoors as soon as ground can be worked. For earlier crop, start seed indoors 5–7 weeks before last frost and set out after last frost. Plant seed in rows 3 feet apart, spacing seed 2 inches apart in row. Cover with ½ inch fine soil.

Thinning

When plants are 4 inches high, thin or transplant 2 feet apart in the row.

Germination

Germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.

Remarks

Water regularly and fertilize every 4–6 weeks. When the sprouts begin to form, remove the lower leaves to force all nourishment into the sprouts. The flavor is improved by frost, so delay harvest of late crop until after first frost.
