Growing guide
- Sowing
Sow seed outdoors after all danger of frost is past or start indoors 4 to 6 weeks earlier. Requires full sun in order to germinate. Plant seed 1/4 inch deep and lightly cover with fine soil. Marigolds prefer a dry climate and don't require much moisture.
- Thinning
When plants are 1 to 2 inches tall, thin or transplant to 12 inches apart.
- Germination
Germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
- Remarks
Marigolds are among the most popular and easiest to grow of all flowers. Butterflies and beneficial insects are attracted to the flowers all throughout the summer. Cut dead flower heads to prolong blooming.
