Growing guide

Sowing

Sow seed outdoors as early as the ground can be worked. Plant in rows 18 to 24 inches apart, spacing seeds 1 inch apart in the row. Cover seed with 1/4 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Keep soil moist until plants start to grow.

Thinning

When plants are 3 to 4 inches tall, thin to 4 to 8 inches apart.

Germination

Germinates in 7 to 14 days depending on soil and weather conditions.

Remarks

Repeat planting at 2 to 3 week intervals, timing last sowing to mature before the heat of mid-summer. Plant again in late summer for fall harvest. Cool weather and frost sweeten flavor.
