Pepper Anaheim Chile

Vigorous, bushy, upright plants that grow 24 to 30 inches tall. Tapered two-celled, medium-hot fruits. A versatile pepper, they can be used in a variety of recipes, for canning, drying, and fresh market. Originating in New Mexico, they were brought to Anaheim, California and were named for that city where they became popular.

Growing guide
- Sowing
Recommend starting indoors 6 to 8 weeks prior to last frost. Plant seed 1 inch apart and cover with 1/4 inch of fine soil, well pressed down. Place seed starting tray in a very warm spot and cover with a frame of glass or polyethylene to preserve moisture until seeds start to grow.
- Thinning
When plants are 2 to 3 inches tall, thin or transplant 2 inches apart in another tray. Transplant outdoors in rows 24 to 36 inches apart, spacing plants 18 to 24 inches apart. Requires full sun.
- Germination
10 to 25 days depending on soil and temperature conditions.
- Remarks
When fruit is ripened, cut from vine instead of pulling from plant to avoid injury.
