Growing guide
- Sowing
Plant the seed outdoors in late spring when the ground has warmed. Plant in rows 24 inches apart, spacing seed 3–6 inches in the row. Cover seeds with 1/2 inch of fine soil, well pressed down.
- Thinning
When plants are 2 to 3 inches high, thin them to 24 inches apart in rows or beds.
- Germination
Germinates in 7 to 10 days depending on soil and weather conditions. Cold, wet weather may delay sprouting.
- Remarks
As the name implies, Mexican Sunflowers require plenty of sunshine. Plants will withstand drought conditions, which may stunt growth. Keep blossoms picked for best results.
