- Sowing
If you don’t need to be the first with tomatoes, plant seed outdoors when the ground is warm and frost danger is past. Otherwise, start seed indoors 4–6 weeks earlier. Cover seed with ¼ inch of fine soil, well pressed down.
- Thinning
When plants are 2–3 inches tall: If outdoors: thin to 2–3 feet apart. If indoors: transplant 2 inches apart until weather warms, then transplant outdoors.
